Soccer team rolls over Butler 3-1

East Meck’s boys soccer team continued their winning form Monday night with a 3-1 victory over Butler.

The Eagles didn’t waste any time on the ball, as senior midfielder Michael Shepard-Moore netted in the third minute to put East Meck up 1-0. The Eagles continued to press, peppering Butler’s goal with shots until senior Jacob Spence slotted a second past the shaky Butler defense in the 29th minute. Up 2-0 at halftime, the East Meck squad entered the second half with confidence as sophomore striker Luis Alanis caught the keeper off-guard, increasing the lead to three.
Though a late Butler tap-in ended the clean sheet, defensive mistakes were few and far between as the Eagles improved to a record of 9-3-2, with a conference record of 6-1. East Meck, who is second in the Southwestern 4A Conference, will next face the winless Rocky River Ravens at home on Wednesday.
