Soccer team starts state playoffs with 3-1 win
East Meck boys soccer defeated Northwest Guilford 3-1 in the first round of the state playoff tournament Thursday. This was the first time the Eagles have participated in the state playoffs since 2008.
The Eagles had a solid first half, with striker Luis Alanis scoring the first goal of the game assisted by Isaiah Townsend. The Eagles kept a strong defense in the first half, allowing no goals from the opponent.
Northwest Guilford made the first goal of the second period, but the Eagle took back the lead shortly after with another goal from Alanis with an assist from Christian Thomas. The final goal came when senior Denilson Caradona scored with an assist from Rin Nung.
The Eagles will travel to play in the next round on Tue. Nov. 8 against West Forsyth.
