During the first half, the Eagles and the Cardinals took turns leading the game as both offenses dominated the game. Just before halftime, the Eagles scored a touchdown, giving them a lead of 27-18. For the rest of the game, the East defense took charge and held Berry to two points.
Along with Woods’ three scores, quarterback Khalil Gilliam and running back Trey Truitt each scored a touchdown.

What a wonderful article this is Lucy. I’m so very, very proud of you!!! I wish I was there to see the game, but your description of what happened on the field, made me feel as though I was sitting in the stands, cheering the Eagles on. Keep up the good work, and the great writing.

UNFORTUNATELY I WAS UNABLE TO ATTEND WHAT TURNED OUT TO BE A VERY
EXCITING GAME. I MUST SAY AFTER READING LUCY SMITHWICK’S ARTICLE I REALLY
FELT AS THOUGH I WAS THERE. HER REPORTING WAS SUCCINCT AND COLORFUL.
EAST MECK DID ITSELF PROUD. AS A PARENT OF AN ALUMNI THE SCHOOL SPIRIT WAS
ENHANCED BY THE STAFF REPORTER’S DESCRIPTION.
