Thursday, February 8, East Meck’s JROTC gathered in the gym to be evaluated on their performance as a unit and community outreach efforts by veteran Jonathan Suthard. When the dust settled, the instructors and cadets earned an overall score of “Exceeds Standards,” the highest rating possible for an evaluation.
During the inspection, seniors Skylar Kupfer, Liam Mays and Zain Hydara also received the Top Performer award. “I was honored to be named as a top performer in our Unit Inspection,” Hydara said. “It took a lot of hard work and dedication from each and every cadet in our unit. Although I am grateful to have been named a top performer, I would like to shout out of the Cadet Staff from East Meck’s JROTC, we work throughout the whole year to make sure the unit runs smoothly, and our pass with distinction is just one thing that shows this.”
After the inspection Suthard wrote a sample press release. “The East Mecklenburg High School cadets cadets performed exceptionally well and took great pride in leading and accomplishing their unit goals,” Suthard said. “The East Mecklenburg High School Air Force Junior ROTC citizenship program is making a positive impact on the cadets, the school and the surrounding community.”
