East Meck takes a win over Myers Park basketball

Story by Ashleigh Fields, Staff Writer

Last week the East varsity boys basketball team won a rivalry game against Myers Park beating them by six points.  The score was 61-55 and East won by a three pointer, shot in the last quarter. Star players Tireq Morrow and Jordan Richard helped lead the team to a long awaited victory.

During the last couple of games East has lost by just a couple of points. East had a lot to prove and did so last week. But this wasn’t the first time we had seen the Myers Park Mustangs on the basketball court. A couple of weeks before this game our Eagles lost to Myers Park. That loss made our Eagles win that much more celebratory.

“It feels good. It was a good team win. We’ve been struggling but this put us back on track to win conference.” said Jordan Richard, a senior.

And they certainly are on track to win conference. East ranks fourth in the Southwestern 4A basketball conference. With four games left and another set against Myers Park our Eagles remain hopeful for another win.
