At the Patriotism Bowl last Friday, East Meck’s football team suffered a tough 30-14 loss against  Weddington.

The Warriors jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first quarter and led the entire game. The Eagles struggled offensively but halfback Khalil Woods was a bright spot for East Meck’ 20 rushes for 190 yards and one touchdown.

The game began with four men from the Special Forces Association Parachute Jump Team from Raleigh jumping out of a small plane. One of the men carried an American flag as he fell, representing the purpose of the event. The annual bowl is meant to raise awareness for citizenship, patriotism and service.

This was East’s fourth non-conference game, and they are now 2-2 for the season. This victory pushed Weddington’s season record to 3-0.
