Football wins first conference game over Independence
East Meck’s football team claimed a victory over Independence 27-7, on Thurs. September, 2017 at home.
By halftime, East was tied 7-7 with Independence, but took the lead with two touchdowns in third quarter and maintained it with one by the end of the game. Out of the 4 touchdowns, halfback Khalil Woods scored 2, running back Curtis Jones scored 1, and safety Trey Hodge’s 56 yard interception return led to a touchdown.
This was the Eagles first win in the Southwestern 4A Conference, after a loss against Porter Ridge, which leaves their conference standing 1-1. The next game will be East’s homecoming against Garinger, on Fri. September, 2017.
