I’m not really someone who is interested in astronomy or an active researcher of all that surrounds us in our galaxy, but I am someone who appreciates random spurts of beauty that nature likes to give us humans every once in a while. I remember traveling to Columbia, South Carolina to be in totality for the solar eclipse last year and being in awe of viewing night and day at the same time. So, when my mom told me that on January 31st there would be a super blue blood moon for the first time in 150 years I was in complete shell-shock. Partially because I hadn’t discovered that this would occur before her but also because it was happening on my birthday. Now I’ve heard the crazy things that happen when there is a full moon, but I was not sure what would happen if there was a super blue blood moon. Of course, I was wondering what would happen to me or the others around me. And it was the fear of what could happen that sparked my research.

I found that a blue moon is merely when two full moons occur in the same calendar month.  Boring, right? However, a supermoon occurs when the moon is as close as it can get to the Earth. And I saved the best for last, the blood moon. Now it’s name already gives off that creepy vibe but what you’ll discover is that it’s not all that scary. A blood moon is simply when the moon turns a reddish color because it’s being eclipsed by the sun. If that’s not amazing, then I don’t know what is.

It makes me feel extremely special to know that this happened for the first time in exactly 152 years on my birthday. I was a little surprised that I didn’t turn into a werewolf or forcibly howl at the moon.

Because I didn’t feel strange, it made me want to do a little bit more digging. I decide to look at my horoscope and see what it had to say about just what a super blue blood moon meant for me. Scorpio (October 23- November 21)– You might feel the need to let go. It’s your time to let go of how others view and stop focusing on the security found in your image.

Sagittarius (November 22- December 21)– You have new ideas, thoughts, a new outlook on life. Take your ideas, your philosophies and share them, don’t wait!
