East Meck’s wrestling team competed last Saturday on Jan. 27. They ended the tournament with ten athletes at the top, with freshman Jonah Muhammad weighing at 128 lbs. in first place.

Coach Eric Sciutto expressed that this season is going exceptionally well.

“They continue to increase their level of skills,” Sciutto said. “They’re more knowledgeable about the sport because they are gaining more experience. I would say, 95 percent of my athletes have a winning record this season.”

Although they missed their chance to proceed in the Southwestern 4A Dual Tournament, they will compete at Hough High School on Feb. 9 and 10 for the Individual Regional Tournament that will qualify them for state.

Their standings in the Southwestern 4A Conference is 4-3 with their overall record at 15-9.
