Soccer falls to Butler in shootout

Story by Jacob Phillips, Online Editor

The East Meck soccer team lost to Butler Oct. 30. The Eagles came out in the first half and scored a goal and held Butler scoreless, but after halftime Butler tied the game up causing it to go into Overtime. Then in Overtime East and Butler were both able to score one goal each, and the game went to penalty kicks.

Butler outscored the Eagles in the shootout 6-5. This was a disappointing loss for the Eagles as it would have given them huge momentum heading into the playoffs. With such a tough loss all eyes will be on the Eagles as they begin their playoff stretch Oct. 6 vs Hoke County.
