Eagles fall in season opener

Story by Jacob Phillips, Online Editor

The East Meck boys varsity basketball team lost to Providence in their season opener Nov. 19 49-41. After an off-season of staff and personnel changes, there were more questions on the direction of the basketball program more than ever. With only a week of practice to prepare their inexperience showed as they struggled early on allowing 24 points in the first quarter while struggling to score.  After the first quarter though the defense picked up allowing only 25 points for the rest of the game. The offense was just never there, scoring was a problem the entire game.

The season has just begun and there are still more questions than answers for this year’s team. They will look to turn things around Nov. 21 when they travel to Ardrey Kell.
