Non-traditional opening Wednesday for boys’ basketball season

Story by Michael Messele, Staff Writer

As the New Year is getting underway, an non-traditional opening night for East Meck’s varsity men’s basketball team will be happening Wednesday  at 7 p.m. against Porter Ridge.

COVID-19 has had a tremendous impact on how this year’s season will be played out. Without the excitement of fans in the stands chanting and screaming it will be a quiet scene on opening night. This is a major adjustment, but just the season being played is an astounding accomplishment in itself.

The Eagles’ season last year didn’t go as planned with a 3-22 overall record, so a win Wednesday would jumpstart the season.
