New Student’s, Important Impact at East

Story by Max Fehrenbach, Staff Writer

East Mecklenburg Highschool has been bustling this year with new students, which has had an unintended but positive impact for the school.

For the 2022-2023 school year the administration has brought in 896 new freshmen, around 200 more than last year, the majority of which are Hispanic.

The new influx of students has made the school more of a melting pot allowing multiple different cultures to interact and express themselves.

The new freshmen have been actively involved in school activities as shown in the massive growth of the school junior-varsity teams, especially the JV football team.

All this combined is ensuring the future diversity, representation, and continuation of the East Mecklenburg student culture.
