The Other Woman, Streaming

Story by Sophie Sanford, Staff Writer

New movies have been coming out in theaters, but not a lot of people have been watching. Well, not in the traditional sense.

Streaming services like Netflix and Hulu are taking the world by storm, and movie theaters are slowly becoming a thing of the past.

People like being entertained, and there’s no better way to do that than movies. They like a big variety, something that movie theaters don’t offer.

Streaming services, however, do. It’s fun to go to the theater and see films on the silver screen, but for a lot of people, it’s not a recurring thing.

The majority of households these days have a TV, and most of those TVs hold Netflix subscriptions.

When people think of watching a movie, what pops into their mind is not hopping in the car and getting a ticket at the theater, but rather turning on their TV and flipping through the options.

People seem to be preferring their homemade theater rather than the real ones.

Big movies with famous actors are always highly anticipated, but recently they haven’t been staying in theaters very long.

Profit is the main reason for this; the shorter the movie’s viewing window, the larger the audience.

After the recent release of some hit movies, they were almost immediately put on streaming services to reach a broader audience.

After the film “Elvis” was released, the movie was put on HBO Max despite still being in theaters. This is most likely due to an increase in people preferring to watch movies from the comfort of their homes.

This rise in streaming service popularity makes you wonder If streaming services are the next big thing, or if they’re only here until the next trend comes along.
