East Meck senior swimmer Anneliese Hohm has announced she will attend East Carolina University.  Her decision was announced on Oct. 1 via Instagram. Hohm chose ECU over other schools such as UNC-Chapel Hill, the University of Cincinnati, James Madison University.

“The other schools didn’t appeal to me like ECU,” Hohm said ”I found what I was looking for at ECU,”

Hohm began swimming at seven years old and has swum at East every year since her freshman year and will continue to do so this year. She also swims for an outside year-round team called ATOM (Aquatic Team of Mecklenburg). Swimming competitively for all these years has helped prepare her and set her up for a future in swimming

“Swimming [at East] has really given me the opportunity to be seen by colleges,” Hohm said “Regionals and nationals helped me get a lot of attention,”

Hohm is excited about the opportunity and hopes to have a successful swim career at ECU and looks to continue her academic career there as well and major in the medical field.

“I really enjoyed the environment at ECU and the swim team, and they offer me the educational opportunity I’m looking for,” Hohm said.
