Eagles fall on homecoming night

The East Meck football team lost to Garinger 18-14 Oct.11. The Eagles came out the gate strong and jumped out to a 14-0 lead early on. Late in the game, Garinger would go on an 18-0 run to take the lead. The Eagles had the opportunity to score a game-winning touchdown but turned the ball over on fourth and goal with under a minute left in the game.

This is the second consecutive year the Eagles have fallen to Garinger following last year’s 31-14 loss. The Eagles failed to put up any points in the second half as their offense fell apart.

The loss came on the Eagles homecoming night. At halftime, everyone in attendance watched as the princesses and the homecoming court walked down the red carpet. In the end, Laila Norman was crowned the 2019 homecoming queen and Anneliese Hohm won first runner up.

The Eagles fall to 1-6 on the year and 0-3 in the conference. They will look to get back on track in a game against a winless Rocky River team Oct. 18.
