Schools will continue to stay closed until May

Story by Jacob Phillips, Online Editor

North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper has extended the closure of all schools in North Carolina from the original March 30th date to May 15th. This decision came after the increased number of positive COVID-19 cases across the state. They came to the conclusion for the May 15th date thanks to CDC guidance.

“This is a rapidly evolving health crisis,” Cooper said. “If guidance changes, we will adjust the order.”

Students can expect that during this time there will be programs set to continue education online. Cooper is also looking for ways to make a plan to make sure teachers will continue to get payed and work safely.
