Snow or sleet a possibility for Friday

Story by Joys Lutwangu, Staff Writer

Just as we come to the end of the holidays and start off the new year meteorologists have predicted this season’s first snow for the Charlotte region.

Forecasters predict that precipitation should start late Thursday evening into late Friday evening (with Friday being the chilliest day)  and will move out completely as we come into the weekend. It is likely that it will be a mix of rain and snow with temperatures being a little above freezing for Charlotte residents with the low being 29 and the high being 39 for Friday evening.

Although Charlotte is expected to see on average 2.1 inches of snow during the months of January there is no expected accumulation this time around, but the freezing of the rain could produce some sleet so drivers are cautioned to check the conditions of the roads as we lead up to this weekend.
