Whether it’s reminiscing about Pizza Hut or mourning the loss of fellow Eagles, the Class of ‘75 has remained connected and active in multiple ways, primarily through Facebook. They started their Facebook group in 2024 and have remained active ever since, posting old yearbook photos, trying to find contacts of people they used to attend school with and scheduling reunions.
The class of ‘75 recently held their 50th reunion on June 7th, 2025, and the group posted pictures of them with their old classmates they hadn’t seen for 50 years, drinking, dancing, and having a blast. There was a photobooth, live music, familiar faces and lots of memories recounted. Even those who were unable to attend were still celebrating with their friends through the comment sections, saying “I had a great time catching up and spending time with so many of my classmates I have not seen in years” (Bob Kirby) and “ East Meck Eagles are the best. We are a lucky bunch” (Georgia Johnson).
The comment section is where the support never ends for the class of ‘75 Eagles. It is where they stay connected through their only means of contact – continuing to comfort, celebrate, and laugh with their old classmates. As more and more obituaries start to appear on their Facebook page, the comment section is never short of kind words and praises. Attached with the comments are obituaries, creating a place for old friends to reconnect and mourn their lost classmates.
Despite their own personal accounts, stories of old teachers and coaches also pop up on Facebook. Recently, Gary Rodgers, an Eagle graduate, posted about a popular past English teacher, Evelyn Grain, who had just celebrated her 100th birthday. This opened the floodgates for memories and messages, bringing another form of connection. Ms. Grain made it to an astounding 103 years old, liked to shop at Target, and was a great teacher and role model, according to the comment section.
Whether it’s on Facebook or at reunions, East Meck Eagles never waver in their support of one another. This has been proven for 50 years since they threw their graduation caps in the air in June 1975, proving that connections can stretch decades and distances without fading.
