East Meck to host TEDx event

Story by Anthony Patterson, Staff Writer

TEDx, which has gained fame for its thought-provoking talks, comes to East Meck on April 22.

This event, which will be from 10 am to 2 pm, is the first licensed event of its kind for any public school in the state of North Carolina. TED is a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to “Ideas Worth Spreading”. It is one of the most popular lecture sites in the world.

Students are organizing the event, as well as preparing the talks. Per TED requirements, fewer than 120 people may attend this initial event.

Any students interested in attending must get a permission slip signed from their teachers. The event will also have a wider reach than the East Meck community since it will be filmed for the official TED site.
